TRACC V2.3 Winter 2024 Release

Find out what is new in TRACC including Connectivity Score, DataCutter, Services Costs/PVR, Service Catchment and numerous other new features.

We are excited to announce the release of TRACC V2.3, available as a free upgrade for all existing TRACC users. Please find a list below of New Features/Improvements:

Access to DataCutter

DataCutter will be accessible within TRACC streamlining the process of downloading and importing data into your projects for both UK and international data. With the addition of new road datasets such as OS MRN, which comes with its own changes to the road network and more flexibility to updating speeds. Please email support to find out how you can access DataCutter.

Service Costs and Peak Vehicle Requirements

An upgrade to the Service Level UI so you can find out the costs and vehicle/driver requirements needed to run a service throughout a typical week.

Connectivity Score

A new algorithm that provides a different view on accessibility for multiple destinations with assigned weightings/categories. Useful to help find out what key destinations are accessible by all travel modes - public transport, walk, cycle and car, within a specified time using a weighting.

TRACC Installation

The TRACC installation made simpler for new installations and upgrades. In addition, you’ll find there is also a new Upgrade pop-up where you have the choice to upgrade to the latest version seamlessly. This won’t be available until we release another version in the future.

Journey Distance in Enhanced Public Transport Results

Distance outputs will be available in the enhanced output CSV results of the Public Transport Origin Destination and Depart At/Arrive By calculations. Distance information will also be available in the path reports of these calculations.

Service Catchment

A tool to show how many people are within each of the public transport stops on a route, this can help identify and optimise where transport stops should be placed within populated areas to ensure maximum coverage.

Removal of Access Driver

Access driver is no longer required to use TRACC. Features and tools that required this in the past remain unchanged.

Removal of XLS as an output

Any layers and results that previously exported to XLS are now saved as XLSX. This is to help with limitations of the number of columns when exporting timetables to XLS.

Contour Generation - Beta

Improvements made to the speed of contour generation. A beta version of these changes will be available to select and you should see a significant reduction in the time it takes to generate a contour, particularly for larger datasets with lots of destinations. This has tried to normalise the way contours are created at different scales. Please email support to provide feedback on the tool.

Ferry Links/Road Info

Ferry links can now be imported as part of the road datasets; OS MRN and OpenStreetMap (OSM), as well as utilised in Origin Destination Calculations. This can be used instead of a ferry timetable for road-based calculations.

Batch Calculation Editor

A new feature that displays all batched calculations within TRACC where edits can also be made or calculations cancelled before they are run.

Timetable trips in order

Newly created or edited trips in the timetable window will now be stored in time order once saved.

Pin a Layer

A new functionality is available when interacting with layers. A single layer can be pinned in the Layer Manager always making it the most visible layer. Any other layers remain dynamic based on when they were last made active.

Update to OSCodePoint Database for Great Britain

Update applied to the OSCodePoint database. This is the Ordnance Survey dataset TRACC uses to locate postcodes, which ensures that the latest changes to postcodes can be imported.

Restoring multiple projects/projection

Additional ability where differing projections can be applied to projects when multiple projects are being restored.

Updates to Local Accessibility metadata exports

Changes made to the Local Accessibility metadata in the Result Summary and CSV exports, so they contain all required parameters and match.

Loading Bar for Timetable

A small improvement to the UI when generating new timetables, making it easier to understand when this is complete.

Copying O/D

Origins and destinations can now be copied over between the Origins and Destinations tab. This means any destinations can be copied and made into origins, and vice versa.

Metadata for Fares

Now providing information regarding the metadata for fares when exported to excel.

Tunnel and Bridge Attributes

Road links can be imported and updated with tunnel and bridge attributes. This will have an effect on journeys whereby origins and destinations cannot start or end a journey on a link that is assigned as either a tunnel or bridge.

Fixes:

Car Batch Calculation with CSV header

Inaccessible car results that were returned with (CSV) in the title have had this removed.

Registers Newer .NET installs

Newer .NET versions installed on machines/servers that host TRACC are now recognised during installation.

Error multiselecting points using Data View

Fix applied when attempting to select multiple data points when using Data View.

Backwards timings in Timetable Editor

Adjustments made to the timetable editor algorithm to reduce the chances of TRACC creating backwards timing in the timetable when applying a small time saving across a large selection of stops.

Hansen contours

An issue with displaying the final range in a Hansen Score contour where it would extend beyond the thematic outline. Changes have been made so that this no longer occurs.

Rail TXC imported as bus

Rail TXC files were auto-assigned as bus on the ‘Import PTNetwork’ window, which has now been changed to National Rail.

Results Comparison

A fix applied to the results comparison window when using Depart At and Arrive By calculations.

Update NaPTAN

New NaPTAN stops can now be added to an existing network.

TRACC can be downloaded from HERE. Please uninstall the existing version of TRACC first.
